Selection Policy

As of the start of the 2008/09 season, Partridge Green FC once again has more than one team, which is great news for everyone involved with the club.

Regardless of the number of teams that exist now or in the future, it should be the aim of all members to treat PGFC as a club and not as separate teams.

The first team is the priority of the club, followed by the reserve team and possibly third team etc somewhere in the future.

Due to the prioritisation in place, the first team management has first refusal on player selection, followed by the reserve team management etc.  If the first team management wishes to select a reserve team player for example, the request will be made to the reserve team management before the player himself is contacted.

It is the right of the first team management to pick for example, in their opinion, the best fourteen or sixteen players when appropriate for any given fixture.

No player should refuse to play for any given side when selected.  If a player does refuse to play for that particular side, that player is not eligible to play in any PGFC side for the next two-team fixtures.

A player should, when selected, fulfil the request of playing for the selected team without complaint.  If the player is not comfortable with doing this, the player should raise their concerns in confidence with the club captain after the match has taken place.  The player’s wishes will then be taken into consideration and discussed between the club captain and the management team(s) involved, where a future agreement between all parties can hopefully be reached.

Lastly, it is imperative that all players and management teams agree and abide by these rules to help the future development and success of the club.
