WSFL Division 2 (north)
First Team manager - Steve Painter
I was introduced into the club as a player by Paul Wilde and soon became hooked on the potential the club had on and off the playing surface.
With a promising start to the 2007-2008 season the first team finish a creditable sixth in Div 2 and where knocked out of both cup competitions at the second hurdle. In the wake of season 2007-2008 the first team manager (Renny Richardson) who had for many years been an integral part of the club declared his resignation from PGFC.
With my playing career coming to a close and the first team manager’s roll being vacant, I decided to declare my interest in the job. On the 17th June 2008 I was appointed the 1st team manager of Partridge Green Football Club. This was not only a massive challenge but also a new chapter in my carrier within football.
One of the first challenges I set myself was to develop a family atmosphere around the club. I also wanted to make some changes with regards to how we approached games in terms of attitude and appearance i.e.: Tracksuit tops and pre-match warm up tops.
With many improvements taking place off the pitch and the club management team driving forward the pre-season programme, the players have shown a desire to not only develop and improve there own skills but also demonstrate a togetherness as a squad.
My aim for the 2008-2009 season is to improve our recent league standings and to compete in all cup competitions we take part in. I believe that with the squad I inherited and the mix of the youth and new additions we have the squad to compete on all fronts for years to come.

Sept 6th Home PGFC 6 Pulborough 0 Div 2 Won
On a day when all the squads’ hard work in pre-season was put to the test we produced a good performance to beat a hard working Pulborough side. Playing at a high tempo from the off we produced chance after chance. The opening goal was scored from the penalty spot by Keith Miller after a deliberate handball in the Pulborough box.
After spurning a number clear cut chances, the second came fifteen minutes in to the second half and was converted by Aaron Green. With the impressive Andrew Todd keeping the door firmly locked at the back we slipped into top gear. The third and forth were crafted out by some brilliant team play and scored by Lewis Partridge and Gary Whittington respectively. Showing a high standard of fitness levels in the latter stages of the game the same two players netted our fifth and sixth goals to secure the perfect start to the 2008-2009 campaign. SP

Sept 27th Home PGFC 2 V Holbrook FC 2 Div 2 Draw
In a game of two halves the two sides battled out an even contest that in the end was a well-deserved draw for both sides. In a first half that see Holbrook go in two up, there was nothing to split the two teams apart from a well taken first for the away team and a dubious free kick awarded by the referee for there second.
With the second half underway Partridge Green started to assert some pressure on the Holbrook defence and after a couple of changes they got what they deserved. After the away side failed to deal with the aerial threat of Adrian Taylor the first came courtesy of James O’Neil after some dogged battling in the Holbrook penalty box.
Now with there tails up the home side increased the tempo and after the impressive Paul Holten delivered a perfect cross the same two players combined for the equaliser, which completed a well deserved comeback to earn a hard fought point.

Nov 1st Home PGFC 2 V Wisborough Green FC 0 Win
On a day where the weather played its part Partridge Green produced some excellent football in a lively first half.
Both teams starting strongly the home side started to get there passing going and after some great football from Lewis Partridge the home side one up. Picking the ball up on the edge of the Wisborough penalty he beat two players before curling a perfect shot into the bottom left hand corner giving the keeper no chance.
The home side were now in their stride and they started to create a number of chances but found the away keeper equal to all there efforts.
The second half was dominated by the weather but, the home side made sure of the all three points with a fortunate second. After some great work out wide by Dan Bailey he delivered a ball into the area that got held up in surface water in the six yard box. With the keeper already committed to the save Peter Woods pounced to secure the points for the home side.
